Tililing Movie: Mental Health Group Recreates Controversial Poster

Mental Health Group Release Own Version of Controversial ‘Tililing’ Poster

TILILING – A mental health group released their own version of the controversial ‘Tililing’ poster to make a point.

The movie ‘Tililing’ is directed by controversial filmmaker, Darryl Yap. He’s the creator behind the films #Jowable and ‘Paglaki Ko, Gusto Kong Maging P*rnst*r.

The poster of his upcoming film elicited reactions from the online community and Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano. The actress expressed her disagreement over the movie poster. She Tweeted, “Really hoping that this movie will spread awareness and enlighten us on the struggles of dealing with mental health. But the poster? It’s a no for me.”

Tililing’ poster features stars Gina Pareño, Candy Pangilinan, Baron Geisler, Donnalyn Bartolome, Yumi Lacsamana, and Chad Kinis making wacky expressions with all their tongues stuck out.

Hours after Liza Soberano’s statement, Darryl Yap took to his Facebook account to assure the actress that the goal of their movie is to spread awareness about mental health. He also told the netizens to watch the movie first before judging it because they will know why it has to be that way.

In a FB post on Monday night, February 8, a group of mental health advocates that supports people with anxiety and depression, Anxiety and Depression Support Philippines (ADSP), recreated the controversial ‘Tililing’ poster. The exaggerated expressions by the 6 actors were replaced by non-celebrities and with normal facial expressions.

In the caption, ADSP said the movie poster is only feeding the stereotypes instead of helping to break it. They also slammed the use of the word “tililing.” The group wrote, “Even us patients and the professionals don’t use this word. Even the government is careful in addressing people with mental health struggles. Wag natin pausuhin.”
