ANGEL LOCSIN – Netizens react after Angel Locsin praised Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong for his ‘sense of accountability.’
Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong was bashed when he and his wife attended Tim Yap’s party last January 17 at the Manor inside Camp John Hay. The location is one of the city’s iconic places.
The event organizer’s party earned criticism as photos and clips showed guests dancing without face masks or face shields. He, Magalong’s wife, and celebrity guests KC Concepcion were fined P1,500 each and P1,000 for not wearing protective gear and P500 for not observing physical distancing.
KC Concepcion and Tim Yap have since apologized separately. Meanwhile, Benjamin Magalong resigned as the head of the country’s COVID-19 contact tracing effort over the violation of health protocol at the party.
Actress Angel Locsin came to the defense of the embattled politician. In a post on her Instagram account last January 30, share shared a photo of her with the mayor after a “productive meeting last week [about] COVID vaccines” in Baguio.

The meeting was for Angel Locsin’s show “Iba ‘Yan.” She wrote, “I know he’s all over the news lately, so, I just want to share our experience with him.”
“He reminded us to wear our masks and face shields and to respect the locals by following safety protocols. He also wore his mask the whole time,” she added.
