Unidentified Perpetrators Sabotage NGCP Tower and Causes Power Interruption

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines NGCP tower topped due to sabotage, which causes power interruption.

The Facebook page of NGCP announced that some of its tower in Poona, Tangcal, Lanao del Norte has been toppled by unidentified people. The post garnered various reactions from the social media users.

The corporation announced that the Tower #60 of NGCP’s Balo-i-Aurora 138kV line has been damaged due to intentional pilferage. The incident causes power interruption on Monday (January 18, 2021).

The topped NGCP tower has been followed by manual load droppings, which affects the customers in some parts of Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental, and Lanao del Norte.

The agency is currently cooperating with the police authorities to locate the perpetrators. NGCP also said that any form of sabotage in power lines cause additional burden to the public through service interruption.

The power corporation also asked the help of public, local and national government to locate the suspects responsible for the sabotage. The perpetrators may cause more trouble, which may lead to frequent power interruption.
