25 Individuals In Cubao, Quezon City Arrested Over ‘Online Sabong’

QUEZON CITY – About 25 individuals in Cubao, Quezon City were recently arrested for alleged involvement in online sabong.

Police operatives entered a compound in Barangay San Roque, Cubao following a complaint from concerned citizens regarding an illegal gambling event, according to a report from GMA News’ Balitambayan.

25 people were found, among them were those who were not wearing face masks, as well as a minor who was collecting gambling money.

Police Major Jowilouie Balaro, chief of Cubao Police Station, reiterated that any form of electronic gaming activity is a violation of community quarantine rules.

“Very blatant talaga yung violation dun sa quarantine protocols natin kasi po ay nagkaroon na sila ng social gathering at nag-iinuman pa sila, and marami ang hindi naka-face mask at face shield,” 

It was also discovered that the permit for operating the said area was also expired.

The operator of the said online gambling, who was among the arrested, said that they needed to earn because they no longer have the money enough to pay for the place. There are others who denied that they are involved in the said illegal activity, based on the report.
