Cavite Reports No New Coronavirus Cases For The 1st Time

CAVITE – For the first time since the ECQ was imposed back in March, Cavite reported no new coronavirus cases.

The province had a long battle with the coronavirus outbreak in its communities. Luckily, due to the effective implementation of health protocols, the number of cases steadily declined.

On a Facebook post, Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla said:

However, even with this victory, Remulla emphasized that the public shouldn’t celebrate as of yet. He warned that the number of cases could quickly increase yet again starting January 10 to 14, around two weeks after the holiday celebrations.

On March 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte declared an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) on several areas in the Philippines. This led to one of the longest and strictest quarantines amongst the ASEAN countries.

According to data from the Department of Health, Cavite reported at least 24,141 cases of COVID-19. Of this number, 696 were active cases while 23,197 have already recovered from the disease. Sadly, 238 people succumbed to the deadly virus in the province.
