Controversial PSG COVID-19 Vaccination defended by Robin Padilla and slammed senators who opposed to it.
ROBIN PADILLA – Veteran action star Robin Padilla defends the PSG receiving the vaccination first which created a controversy.
The members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) have already received the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine. This was confirmed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday.
AFP spokesperson Marine Maj. Gen. Edgard Arevalo said in a statement, “Per our inquiry, members of the PSG were the first ones from the AFP who were vaccinated owing to the nature of their mission and function.”
The move of the Malacanang to to administer unregistered COVID-19 vaccines to President Rodrigo Duterte’s security detail created a loud buzz online. Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque justified this saying that those were just tokens.
As per Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, government officials and employees are banned to receive direct or indirect gifts from private persons or entities. And with this, Roque said that the vaccines donated were just tokens which is an exemption under the law.
Ahead of the numerous health workers across the Philippines, top Duterte government officials and soldiers are among the people to receive the vaccine against the COVID-19. And Robin Padilla, among the famous avid supporters of the present administration, slammed the senators who opposed to this.
Senator Risa Hontiveros expressed that the vaccines are clearly smuggled out from the black market while Senator Francis Pangilinan stood with “palakasan” system that whoever has strong backups from the higherups gets to be vaccinated first.
In an Instagram post, the veteran actor was in disbelief with what these senators have said. According to him, it is just rightful to protect the people protecting the president first. He wrote, “Tungkulin ng presidential security group na by all means possible and impossible protect the head of state because a headless state is a failed state.”
He even added that those who has nothing good to say and is not helpful to raise the moral of the army and PNP must just stay silent. He furthered, “Bago niyo banatan ang mga PSG at mga cabinet members tanongin niyo muna yun mga kapwa niyo senador na nagpavaccine na at sila ang banatan niyo ng blackmarket at bakit hindi sumunod sa FDA.”
