Mayor Richard Gomez Helps to Save Woman Attempting to End Her Life
Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez helps to save a woman from jumping off the bridge in attempt to end her life due to depression.
Recently, a 19-year-old woman attempted to end her life by jumping off the bridge due to depression. According to the report of the Manila Bulletin, the woman was suffering from postpartum depression.
Witnesses said the woman was also experiencing marital issues since she just came from a barangay settlement with her husband. the couple has already separated but their seven-month-old baby was taken away from her and placed in the care of the husband.

The woman was already living with a different partner but her family was allegedly forcing her to leave her new man. This prompted the woman to go to a hanging pipe beside a bridge, which was at least 20 feet high.
Meanwhile, Mayor Richard Gomez and personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine National Police in Ormoc City conducted the rescue operation. The negotiation with the depressed woman took two hours after she was rescued.
The woman was finally pacified after the successful operation personally led by Mayor Gomez and Col. Ramil Ramirez, Ormoc City Police, the woman was brought by the rescue team to the hospital for treatment.
