Cebu Motorists in Checkpoint Got Surprised After They Received Gift Instead of Ticket
CEBU CITY- Motorists flagged down in a checkpoint operation of LTO, HPG, and PNP got surprised after they received a gift instead of a violation ticket.
This Christmas season, traffic officials from Land Transportation Office (LTO), Highway Patrol Group (HPG), and Philippine National Police (PNP) are exerting efforts in implementing traffic rules in the country.
Their job is to regulate and ease traffic congestions along the street. Checkpoint operations are also conducted to apprehend motorists with traffic violations.
But in Cebu City, the joint operation of LTO region 7 along with HPG and PNP has earned praise from the online community. Motorists in the mountain barangay of Tabunan in Cebu got the surprise of their lives Sunday when they were flagged down by the traffic officials.

In the said operation, no motorists have been arrested, not even those with violations. Instead, the motorists were given Christmas packages that include rice and gift certificates.
Riders living in the area without licenses were given a scholarship certificate with the LTO academy while five motorists received new helmets. The activity is part of LTO-7’s “Malasakit Outreach Roadside Road Safety Initiative.”
