NPA Rebels Attack Cagayan Construction Firm, Claims Land Grabbing

CAGAYAN CONSTRUCTION FIRM – About 30 guerrillas of the New People’s Army (NPA) attacked a construction firm in Cagayan on Friday dawn.

The guerrillas were distributing leaflets condemning alleged land grabbing in the area. They proceeded to raid the quarters of DDT Construction at the village of Dagupan, Lal-lo town in Cagayan, according to a report from Inquirer.

The rebels seized the guns of the firm’s three security guards and tied them up. They were led by an alleged secretary of the Danilo Ben Command of the NPA’s Northern Front in northern Cayagan.

They also burned three bunkhouses and a mini-cultivator, as well as leaving behind anti-government newsletters and papers as they head for the mountainous part of the village, based on the report.

Meanwhile, in the island of Negros, four suspected members of New People’s Army were arrested at a checkpoint in Moises Padilla town.

The rebels were arrested by a team of police and Army personnel at a checkpoint in Barangay Montilla in the said town.

The troops of the 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB) and police force of Moises Padilla installed checkpoints October 2 after gaining information from locals about four suspected people who are on board two motorcycles.
