Jeepney Drivers Start to Sell Vegetables Due to Months of “Tigil Pasada”

The jeepney drivers have started to sell vegetables along Blumentritt in Manila due to months of “Tigil Pasada” amid the health crisis.

Over the past few months, a lot of people in the Philippines are experiencing poverty and starvation due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. It severely affects the global economy.

The jeepney drivers are only some of the employees who lost their livelihoods due to the current health situation in the Philippines. Some drivers were not allowed to operate to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease.

On Friday (September 18, 2020), the Dapitan Drivers and the members of Operators Jeepney Association (DADOJA) have been spotted selling vegetables to earn money amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The jobless driver used the P20, 000 donated by a private person and started to sell their products last September 12. The drivers are selling their products at a waiting shed near the corner of Laong Laan and Blumentritt in Manila.
