12-Year-Old Girl Loses Her Life After Being Hit by Mini Van
A 12-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by a minivan in front of a convenience store in Barangay Tinampa-an, Cadiz City.
On the afternoon of March 4, 2026, the young victim was a Grade 6 student had just come from the convenience store and was about to cross the road when the accident happened.
The driver of the minivan was identified by authorities as a 33-year-old man known as Ernie, a resident of Hacienda Pilar in Barangay Poblacion 2 in Sagay City.

According to Police Lieutenant Daleen Grace Loreno, Deputy Chief of Police of the Cadiz City Police, the mini van was traveling from Victorias City and heading toward Escalante City at the time of the incident.
Initial investigation showed that the young girl was attempting to cross the road after leaving the convenience store. She reportedly stumbled while on the first lane of the road. When she managed to stand up, she suddenly ran across the road and was struck by the approaching mini van.
Due to the strong impact, the girl was thrown onto the concrete road. She suffered serious injuries in different parts of her body. Bystanders and responders immediately rushed her to the hospital to receive medical treatment.
Unfortunately, doctors later declared the young girl dead on arrival. The accident left many people in the community saddened, especially those who knew the young student. Road accidents involving children often remind residents about the importance of extra caution, especially in areas near stores and residential neighborhoods where pedestrians are common.
Authorities said that discussions between the family of the victim and the driver have already taken place following the incident. Meanwhile, police continue to look into the details of the accident.
