Former actor Leandro Munoz and the real reason why he left the industry.
LEANDRO MUNOZ – 44-year-old former actor Leandro Munoz finally speaks on real reason why he left the show business industry.
Among the famous icons and actors way back the 90s is Leandro Munoz who is one of the homegrown talents of Star Magic. He got paired with Judy Ann Santos in film entitled Isusumbong Kita Sa Tatay Ko (1999) along with the late King of Philippine Movies Fernando Poe Jr.
He was also paired with Claudine Barretto in television series Saan Ka Man Naroroon (1999-2001), in romantic-drama film Kahit Isang Saglit (2000) with Juday and Piolo Pascual, and many other classic films. But in 2003, the time when his career is at its peak, he left and stepped out of the limelight.
After many years, the former 44-year-old actor is now based in Fairfield, California where he lived for 17 years already, finally speaks about this “sensitive topic” for him. He opened up that he loves acting but as an actor, he’s been close to few actors only like Patrick Garcia and late actors Miko Palanca and Rico Yan.
One of the reasons behind this and also the reason why he left the industry is because of fake people. Accordingly, “Pero ang daming hindi totoong tao. Kahit hindi ko na-mention yung iba [na naging ka-close ko], it doesn’t mean sila yung mga fake na tao. Pero ang daming hindi totoong tao. Medyo hindi ko kinaya, e, yung mga fake na mga tao.”
He even added and admitted that he was guilty of infidelity before when he was still in showbiz, and back then, he was that person he didn’t like. It seemed like being in the industry has brought toxic in his life. And that was the turning point of everything and realized he had to leave to change himself for the better.
And one of the greatest challenges he has gone through when he left is the passing of his father. He was in the states when his father died due to heart attack and realized that when they stay here in the Philippines, it would just remind them of their father’s death. That’s why they tried their luck and fate in the US.
They started from scratch but went back to the country for 1 year. He was able to do some projects but for the same reason why he left before, he left again and it’s for good. He has a business in US that deals with financial investment services like life insurance, home insurance, and refinancing.
Based on report from PEP, he is now married Sheryl Espero and his 26-year-old son with previous wife is living with him. He said, “So now I have a relationship with God. Now I’m very faithful to my family and to my wife.”
