Chito Roño was asked about this rumored project of Kathryn Bernardo
Rumor has it that Asia’s Superstar Kathryn Bernardo will star in the remake of the horror film Feng Shui, and veteran director Chito Roño reacted to this.
The veteran director shared that he already met with Star Cinema, and he accidentally revealed that he plans to do a movie starrring Kathryn.
However, based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon, it is now seems unlikely that the previously reported Elena 1944, which is a story about “comfort women” during the Japanese occupation, will push through.
This period film project is a massive undertaking, especially given the action sequences required to recreate the final days of World War II. Consequently, the director reportedly met with Star Cinema to discuss whether or not to proceed with the planned movie starring Kathryn.
The latest update is that they plan to produce it in the US, though there is no word on exactly which movie it is. There is also no update whether this project will continue or not.
Another speculation that surfaced was that Kathryn is starring in a remake of the horror movie Feng Shui, originally headlined by Kris Aquino and directed by Chito S. Roño in 2004.
Direk Chito addressed this, and he said that he was not yet aware of this proposed Feng Shui remake. “Hindi ko pa alam! Wala namang nakarating sa akin na ganoon,” the veteran filmmaker said.
When asked if it would be okay for him with someone else directing a remake or reimagining of Feng Shui, the director quick replied, “No.”
After all, Direk Chito owns the rights to the film’s title. Then, he was asked if he would approve of Kathryn starring in a Feng Shui remake? He said, “Oo, wala akong problema dun.”
With this, there is no clear answer yet on whether a remake of of the said horror film will push through. To recall, a blind item recently surfaced that the horror movie comeback of a prominent actress will no longer happen, and netizens connected this to Kathryn Bernardo.
