Convicted killer of Jennifer Laude case Joseph Pemberton pardoned by Duterte and here’s how celebrities reacted.
JENNIFER LAUDE CASE – US Marine Joseph Scott Pemberton pardoned by President Duterte and these famous celebrities express their frustrations.
The Olongapo City Regional Trial Court Branch 74 has ordered on September 1 the early release of the convicted suspect of Jennifer Laude, the former United States Marine Lance Corporal Joseph Scott Pemberton. Way back 2014, transgender Laude, who was 26 years at that time, met her untimely death.
Laude’s lifeless body was discovered by a hotel staff not wearing anything above and a blanket wrapped from her waist down with her head submerged in the motel room’s toilet. Also, in the investigation, her neck was blackened with strangulation marks. The recorded cause of death is “asphyxiation by drowning”. And the last person she was with is the former US marine.
Pemberton was arrested and will be jailed for 10 years. However, his early release only made him serve 2,142 days in prison which is equivalent to five years and eight months only. And the pardon from President Duterte has earned a lot of comments from the people and famous personalities.
The “absolute pardon” to the 25-year-old American Marine after being convicted of killing the Pinoy transgender angered Philippine nationalists. His early release is accordingly due to good conduct.
