Youtuber Slams Environmentalist Who is Against the White Sand in Manila Bay


A foreign Filipino Youtuber slams an environmentalist for ciritizing the government putting white sand in the shore of Bay Walk.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) previously received criticisms from Filipino people as the fill the banks of Manila Bay with white sand. According to the previous article, the sand came from the beaches of Cebu.

Netizens, environment groups, and lawmakers have expressed their reactions to the white sand project of DENR, which is part of the rehabilitation of Manila Bay.  Two advocacy groups called the DENR’s project “a sham” and “purely aesthetic.”

Meanwhile, senators have expressed mixed reactions towards Manila Bay white sand project. Two senators, Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Joel Villanueva are against the program.

Meanwhile, a Youtuber has explained the project thoroughly after the blast of criticism online. He clarified that the only part of Manila Bay that the sand will placed is ‘Bay Walk’.

He also said that the total meters where the sand will be placed is only 500 meters. From the US Embassy until the end point of Bay Walk. There is also an 160 meters gap from the sidewalk going the water.

He also slammed the youth environmentalist who claimed that the white sand can cause flood and harm to the marine wildlife. However, he said the there is no wildlife living in that area as the water filled with silt and slime due to various garbage thrown in there.
