Davao del Sur Hit by Earthquake with 4.8 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.8 magnitude quake in Davao del Sur, August 31, 2020.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advises the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.

Recently, a quake has hit a part of Davao del Sur. At 01:44 am, August 31, 2020, Kiblawan was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Davao del Sur was located at 06.58°North, 125.20°East – 008 km South 07° West of Kiblawan. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 021 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in a bulletin that there are no expected damages caused by the quake. Also, aftershocks are not expected of the said quake. The following intensities were recorded:

- Kiblawan, Davao del Sur
- Malungon, Sarangani
- Intensity IV
- Davao City
- Digos City and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur
- Tupi, South Cotabato
- Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte
- Intensity III
- Koronadal City
- Bansalan and Magsaysay, Davao del Sur
- Columbio, Sultan Kudarat
- Intensity II
- Kidapawan City
- General Santos City
- Antipas and Makilala, Cotabato
