Macalintal Says Robredo Will Become President If Duterte Declares Revolutionary Government
ROBREDO – Election lawyer Romulo Macalintal said VP Leni Robredo will be president if Rodrigo Roa Duterte declares and head the revolutionary government.
On Saturday, August 22, the supporters of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte assembled at Clark Freeport to support the “revolutionary government.” They want the 75-year-old chief executive to lead it until the end of his term.
Lots of people condemned the efforts of the group. Among them are Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, Otso Diretso candidate Chel Diokno, and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
In a previous article, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said PNP chief Archie Gamboa received the invitation from Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD NECC) to join the meeting calling for a revolutionary government.
Banac said the PNP will never support it. “The PNP remains true and loyal to the Constitution. We will continue to uphold it and obey legal orders from the duly constituted authorities,” he said.

Based on a report from Inquirer, veteran election lawyer Romulo Macalintal on Monday said that Vice President Leni Robredo will replace Duterte as president if he declares the revolutionary government.
He noted that that MRRD NECC was headed by Digong himself “might be in for a big, if not a shocking, surprise.”
According to the report, Macalintal explained that once President Duterte declares rev-gov, he ceases to be the chief executive of a democratic government to which he was proclaimed. the position he swore to preserve and defend.
“In a word, once Duterte declares and heads the said revolutionary government, Robredo takes over as President of our democratic government. This will bring us to a situation where there will be two kinds of government: the revolutionary government headed by Duterte and the democratic government headed by Robredo,” he said.
Based on the report, Macalintal also said that it is “comforting to note” that the PNP and Defense chief Delfin Lorenzana gave expressed opposition to the rev-gov.
He concluded Duterte should take the issue seriously because it could “affect the confidence of local and foreign investors in our country even after our struggle again this COVID crisis”
