Metro Manila Curfew Unified Until August 31 As Decided by Mayors

METRO MANILA CURFEW – The mayors in cities in Metro Manila agreed to have a unified curfew until August 31.

One of the measures implemented by most local governments in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic is the curfew. Several cities and municipalities have posted penalties for those who are going out beyond the curfew hours for non-essential purposes.

Everyone is encouraged to stay at home now if not for essential purposes like work or the purchase of food. For several days now, the Department of Health (DOH) is recording a minimum of 3,000 cases in a day.

The total COVID-19 cases in the country now is 169,213. Out of the said number, the DOH noted 2,687 and 112,861 recoveries.

Cities in Metro Manila are easing from a Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) to a General Community Quarantine (GCQ). The new quarantine measure is until August 31.

In line with the easing of the quarantine measures, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, mayors of the different cities have agreed to have the Metro Manila curfew unified.

According to the report, the curfew is from 8:00 o’clock in the evening until 5:00 o’clock in the morning. Metro Manila Council chairman Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez said that it will be implemented until August 31.

Meanwhile, those individuals who have to go out for work between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. are exempted from the curfew. Also, the authorities are not covered by it.
