Pres. Duterte May Declare New Community Quarantine Measures on Monday, August 17

DUTERTE – Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is expected to announce new community quarantine measures on Monday, August 17.

The fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines is not yet over. Unfortunately, the total cases has increased greatly in the past few days as the Department of Health (DOH) records at least 3,000 daily.

As of this writing, the total coronavirus cases recorded in the country is 143,749. Out of the said total number, the death toll is 2,404 now while 68,997 patients have recovered from the disease.

Currently, Metro Manila and several nearby areas are under a Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ). It is set to expire on August 18.

The MECQ declaration of the President came after the doctors and the health workers called for a breather. They wanted an ECQ to better prepare for the fight against COVID-19.

Sadly, several doctors, nurses, and hospital workers have contracted COVID-19 in the line of duty. Many big hospitals and health facilities in Metro Manila and other provinces have already announced a full capacity for coronavirus cases.
