38 Out of 57 NAIA Employees Are Active Cases of COVID-19

NAIA EMPLOYEES – Fifty-seven (57) employees of Ninoy Aquino International Airport tested positive for COVID-19.

The realities in the Philippines now are far from what used to be last year. It is due to the COVID-19 pandemic which brought a lot of changes to the country.

Community quarantine measures are still up in PH now. The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded a total of 74,390 cases of coronavirus. As of this writing, 1,871 of the said patients died while 24,383 have already recovered.

Now, there are reduced capacities in public transportation to practice social distancing in the pursuit to curb the spread of the disease. The wearing of face mask is a protocol now.

Undeniably, the people working in offices and establishments that cater to a huge number of people are among those who are more at risk for the virus. These includes workers of bus terminals and airports.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, 57 Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA employees tested positive for COVID-19. Currently, 38 are active cases as 19 of the employees have already recovered from the disease.

The management of NAIA said that most of their workers who tested positive for coronavirus have no direct contact with the passengers. Rapid test was conducted yesterday. Based on the report, 11 out of more than 100 people whose swab samples were taken tested positive for the disease.

With regard to the Immigration officers in the said airport, none of them are included in the 57 NAIA employees who tested positive for COVID-19. They are in full personal protective equipment (PPE) during their duty.
