VP Sara Duterte Asserts: ‘I never said Marcos resign’

This is what VP Sara Duterte recently stressed about the president.

On Tuesday, VP Sara Duterte asserted that she never wished for President Bongbong Marcos, her former political ally, to resign.

Last year, the current administration was shaken when Vice President Sara Duterte resigned as Secretary of Education under the leadership of President Bongbong Marcos. This marked the end of their alliance — a fatal blow to their once-strong “UniTeam.”

Duterte did not provide a clear reason for her resignation, and since then, major policy differences between the two, along with clashes between members of their political clans, have continued. The vice president has also been consistently outspoken in criticizing the current administration.

Despite the series of critical comments, the second-in-command recently stressed that she never, even once, urged the president to resign. She never made a call or sought the resignation of Marcos Jr. amid the issues.

What she said instead is for the President to undergo a drug test, as challenged by former Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez. She said to the reporters, “That is a hanging, open challenge na hanggang ngayon, ayaw niyang gawin. Na sinasabi ko that is betrayal of public trust.”

She added that calling for Marcos’ resignation is a “pointless call,” citing his father’s DNA in him. To recall, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. led the country for two decades. He was only ousted after the people united to do this, as enough was enough being under his dictatorship.

“Marcos resign is a pointless call. That is why ako, I am asking him to do his job, of which of course, alam nating lahat na hindi niya ginagawa,” she said. She stressed that Marcos should not be asked to resign, and instead asked him to do his job.
