Over 500 Naval Forces Central Members Test for COVID-19 Amid Pandemic

NAVAL FORCES CENTRAL – Seventy-seven (77) of its members in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu have tested positive for COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit a lot of countries and territories across the globe. The Philippines is one of the nations that confirmed cases of the said disease.

In fact, the whole country is under a community quarantine until now in the pursuit to stop the spread of the infection. A total of 54,222 cases of the disease were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH).

Out of the said total number, 1,372 patients died while 14,037 have recovered from the disease. Many fronliners were infected by the disease.

Among the frontliners who contracted the COVID-19 disease are the Naval Forces Central members in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, seventy-seven (77) of their members tested positive for coronavirus.

According to Captain Tresian Batag, the camp was placed under a lockdown since July 4. More than 500 of its personnel tested for coronavirus.

Based on the report, most of the 77 Naval Forces Central members who tested positive for COVID-19 are frontliners who are delivering assistance to neighboring islands like Eastern Visayas, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas.

Batag said that their operation was affected for a moment but they are already working for the resumption of the operations. There are already vessels that are negative for COVID-19 and they are coordinating with the Lapu-Lapu City Health Office for a clearance.
