Update on Cordillera COVID-19 Cases Following Easing of Protocols

CORDILLERA COVID-19 CASES – The coronavirus cases in the Cordillera region almost doubled in just eight (8) days.

The fight against COVID-19 in the Philippines is not yet over. Everyone is advised to continue observing protocols to prevent the spread of the disease that has already claimed over 400,000 lives across the globe.

In the country, there is now a total of 30,682 cases of COVID-19 recorded. The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 1,177 deaths and 8,143 recoveries.

The entire Philippines is under a community quarantine now. Cebu City is under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) while other high risk areas are under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) now.

In other areas, the community quarantine measures have eased down. However, the cases is some regions increased after the easing down of the quarantine measures.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Cordillera COVID-19 cases almost doubled in just eight (8) days after the easing down of the protocols. According to Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, from 57 cases, it increased to 108 in just eight (8) days.

Speaking to ANC, the Baguio City Mayor expressed that provinces that were previously COVID-free have recorded cases of coronavirus. Mountain Province has recorded two (2) cases while Kalinga recorded six (6) cases.

According to the report, in Benguet, the COVID-19 cases rose from 14 to 36. From 38 coronavirus cases, the cases in Baguio increased to 44.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong point to the local transmission of COVID-19 in two (2) hospitals with regards to the increase of the COVID-19 cases. Several stranded individuals have also returned.
