Kapamilya actor Jake Cuenca confirms in an interview that beauty queen Rabiya Mateo is officially his girlfriend.
After several months of rumors and sightings together, ABS-CBN actor Jake Cuenca finally confirmed that he and beauty queen Rabiya Mateo are in a relationship. During the actor’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” guesting on Wednesday, he finally confirmed their relationship.
“Kami na,” the actor said, adding, “Really, really proud to say it. She’s an amazing woman. Incredible woman.”
Further describing his girlfriend, Jake shared that Rabiya is very kind and super intelligent. According to him, it all started with him liking Rabiya’s posts. He followed her on social media, then sent her a DM. He was even doubting about them crossing paths because they had come from two different networks.
“She’s always definitely been a crush of mine. And once tinapos ko ‘yung dalawang programa ko, once I was able to you know, finish my responsibilities, I had to shoot my shot and I messaged her on social media,” he added.
“I’m truly proud of her,” Jake said, adding that their relationship has been “very happy.”
The actor also recalled a memorable moment during their trip to Hong Kong Disneyland, where Rabiya received her acceptance message to medical school. According to Jake, the trip became even more meaningful because it was also where he officially asked Rabiya to be his girlfriend.
They had been dating for three months before their relationship was made official. The actor then admitted that his approach to dating has changed compared to his past relationships.
“Before I would date or be in a relationship and say let’s see where this goes as special as this is. I never used to date a woman with purpose. And for me with her, I have a purpose,” he expressed.
When asked if he could see himself marrying Rabiya, Jake stopped short of making any definitive statements but admitted that he could envision himself settling down with her in the future.
Before dating Rabiya, Jake was previously in a relationship with Chie Filomeno, while Rabiya was formerly linked to Jeric Gonzales.
