Daanbantayan Cebu Mayor Sun Shimura Announces He’s COVID-19 Positive

Daanbantayan, Cebu Mayor Sun Shimura took to the social media an announcement confirming that he is positive for COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic is not over. Everyone must not be complacent to avoid the second wave of the virus from happening as it is really fatal.

Across the globe, more than 460,000 lives were claimed by this coronavirus disease that was first recorded in China way back December 2019. Its epicenter in the Chinese community was Wuhan City in Hubei province.

Now, more than 200 nations and territories across the globe got cases of COVID-19 with United States leading the line. U.S. recorded over two (2) million cases of the disease.

The Philippines is one of the countries that is fighting against COVID-19 now. The province of Cebu is one of those with confirmed cases of the disease that exempts no one.

Even the Daanbantayan, Cebu Mayor was infected by COVID-19. Mayor Sun Shimura took to the social media an announcement revealing his coronavirus test result.

According to the Mayor, he went through swab testing last June 15 but he tested negative for COVID-19 so he continued with his duties. He attended a conference of the mayors in the capitol in Mandaue City last June 17.

After the conference, the Daanbantayan, Cebu Mayor decided to go for a check up as he had fever and cough during that time. He went through another swab testing last June 20 and, the following day, his result came out and he tested positive for coronavirus.

The Mayor decided to suspend all the operation in the Mayor’s Office for a week. Also, a thorough disinfection of the whole city hall would be conducted today.
