Lawmaker Says Duque Should Resign Due To Pattern Of Failures
DUQUE SHOULD RESIGN – Netizens say that the fact that Health Secretary Francisco Duque still remains in his position is one of the biggest wonders of the world.
Within the provisions of the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act”, health workers who have fallen ill or have died due to COVID-19 are to receive cash assistance from the government. However, two months after the act was passed, not a single one of the health worker’s families had received any form of cash aid.
This was one of the concerns of President Rodrigo Duterte during a meeting. Duterte scolded health officials but never said a word to Duque. The President even said that he would remove those in charge of the cash aid delivery because “they are not functioning”.
Moreover, Duterte emphasized that the government is wasting money paying for “those idiots”. Following the harsh criticism from Duterte, Duque quickly washed his hands of any fault and began blaming his subordinates as well.
“Nakakahiya talaga sir eh, namatayan na nga.. tapos yung mga tao ko, parang walang sense of urgency sir.. yun talaga ang sama sama ng luob ko, Mr. President”
Health workers who were in critical condition due to COVID-19 would’ve received P100,000 pesos. Meanwhile, the families of health workers who have succumbed to the virus would be given P1,000,000.
After his statement, he faced harsh criticisms from the public, health workers, and lawmakers. As someone in a leadership position, Duque should take responsibility for overseeing the progress done by his people. Moreover, they emphasized that he should never shift the blame to anyone but him.
As such, people now more than ever, have called for his resignation. Likewise, according to an article from ABS-CBN, Senator Panfilo Lacson called for his resignation after his “Pattern Of Failures“.
But, on Friday Afternoon, Duque finally took responsibility for the delays in the financial aid distribution for the health workers.
Following this, he even personally went to the homes of the virus hit health workers to distribute the compensation.
