Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, after criticizing his subordinates regarding the cash aid issue, admitted that it is still his responsibility.

Based on a previous report, President Rodrigo Duterte called out the attention of the health secretary. regarding the cash assistance that the government is providing for health workers who died to COVID-19.

Following this, reportedly, the DOH Secretary lambasted his subordinates for not acting upon this project. However, in his recent Twitter post, he is admitting that it is still his responsibility.

“While I expressed disappointment towards some members of my team, I acknowledge that this is still my responsibility as SOH. I will make sure that we comply with the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act, with proper documentation and identification of HCWs,” the health secretary said.

His post received several comments from netizens demanding him to resign. To recall, his resignation was also demanded after he stated that the Philippines is already suffering from the second wave of the COVID-19.

However, the Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that as long as an official has the trust and confidence of the President, that official will remain at his or her position.
