Bianca Gonzalez on ABS-CBN franchise renewal issue and what will happen to workers after it shut down.
ABS-CBN FRANCHISE RENEWAL – Kapamilya host Bianca Gonzalez reveals what will happen to the employees after the ABS-CBN shut down.
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issue of cease and desist order versus ABS-CBN network indicating to stop other broadcasting and all other operations got lambasted online. And truly, at around 7 P.M. of May 5, the media network aired their last TV Patrol episode and bid goodbye to their viewers.
What made people emotional is the fact that 11,000 of their employees lost their jobs in a snap from a statement amid this trying time of coronavirus disease 2019. According to some Philippine senators, the act was “contrary to law and is a grave abuse of discretion” and untimely as they provide reliable information especially at this time of pandemic.
Now, as the network faces shut down, what will happen to their 11,000 employees such as the persons behind the camera, the utility, and among other? Kapamilya host Bianca Gonzalez has revealed something about this.
In a Twitter post, she shared that their bosses announced no one will get to lose their jobs in the next three (3) months due to retrenchment. She shared:
“Our bosses in a live chat with employees after broadcast ended:
“For the next three months, wala pong mawawalan ng trabaho due to retrenchment.”
“Active ang lahat ng benefits, including medical, sa panahon na ito.”
In cease and desist order from NTC, ABS-CBN also issued their statement regarding it announcing to shut down immediately. Some supported the shut down but many are affected not just because they are about to lose their source of entertainment but because of the thousands of people who will lose their job.
