COVID-19 Task Force Suspended International Flights Until May 8
CORONAVIRUS – According to the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19, international flights to and from the Philippines are suspended until May 8.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated that the task force approved the recommendation to suspend the flights until 11:59 PM on Friday. However, there would be exemptions from the order.

- Official flights
- Emergency flights
- Cargo ambulance and medical supply flights
- Weather mitigation flights
- Maintenance flights
- International flights for stranded foreign nationals
According to an article from ABS-CBN, all inbound commercial flights on the following airports were suspended:
- Manila (Ninoy Aquino International Airport)
- Davao
- Clark
- Iloilo
- Mactan-Cebu
- Zamboanga
- Kalibo
- Laoag
- Puerto Princesa
Pandemic policy chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. stated the moratorium enable the government to advance COVID-19 testing and screening capabilities.
Moreover, he emphasized that it would “adequately deal with the growing number of repatriates and COVID-19 cases in the Philippines”. As the virus became a pandemic, the Philippines had been flying to countries where Filipinos have lost their jobs as well as provide transport to those who want to come home.
Meanwhile, domestic flights have already been allowed as long as both airports are under General Community Quarantine.
