39 People Discriminating, Humiliating Medical Workers Got Arrested

Thirty-nine (39) people were arrested for discriminating, humiliating, and hurting medical health workers due to fear that they are carrying the virus.

Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte warned certain individuals that they may face arrest and charges according to “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act” if they discriminate and humiliate health workers amid battle against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Meanwhile, the Joint Task Force COVID-19 Shield has announced that up to 40 individuals have been arrested for harassment and discrimination against Health workers.

According to the report of Brigada News, JTF COVID-19 Shield Commander P / Ltg. Guillermo Eleazar said that there are more than 100 cases that have been filed against them in connection with bullying and discrimination against health workers.

Eleazar said this includes distributing chemicals to health workers while some are being evacuated to rented or sheltered areas for fear that they have the COVID-19. Western and Central Visayas, Mimaropa and Metro Manila were reported to have the highest rates of discrimination and bullying among frontliners.

Medical frontliners, health workers, nurses, and doctors are now considered as ‘modern-day heroes’, as they risk their lives in combating coronavirus. Lots of them were tested positive with the virus for giving medical attention to their patients who are also infected with the virus.

Unfortunately, some of them died after fighting against the virus. However, some are grateful as they were given another life to save somebody’s lives after tested negative and cleared out with the virus.
