3 OFWs in Sugbo Directly Go Home Without Any Permission
CEBU CITY – Three (3) Overseas Filipino Workers OFWs in Sugbo directly went to their home in two towns and a city in Cebu Province without proper protocol.
According to the report of Philstar, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said she learned that OFWs had arrived in Cebu on a land trip. One of them is from Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City while two are from Tudela on Camotes and Samboan Islands.
Ni-report ang mayor sa Tudela nga naa nay naghuwat kay moderetso na’s Tudela ug gani ang Talisay na deretso na, ang ni-report nako empleyado sa Capitol kay nagpuyo sa sama nga subdivision,” (The mayor of Tudela reported that there were people who already went to Tudela and others had gone straight to Talisay, my Capitol employee reported having lived in the same subdivision) Garcia said.
However, the OFW of the City of Talisay has obtained certification from the barangay captain of 667 Zone 72-District V. Ermita, Manila Margarita Mendoza’s testimony that the OFW completed the 14-day mandatory quarantine.
Garcia said it would not matter if an OFW was struggling with his work abroad due to the coronavirus disease pandemic and wanted to return to Cebu but they had to go through the proper procedure and protocol.
According to the governor, the correct process for returning the OFW is to obtain a certificate of quarantine from the local health officer or Department of Health.
They must have a Bureau of Quarantine travel pass valid within 24-hours or until the OFW reaches its destination. IATF has travel authority similar to the 185 Cebuano seafarers repatriated and a certificate of acceptance by the local chief executive.
