According to a report from ABS-CBN News, Senate Resolution No. 374 discourages the public not to do a handshake as a form of greeting for the purpose of containing the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Despite the associated social graces, the handshake poses significant health risks and has been identified as a means for passing ailments and respiratory viruses as stated by the World Health Organization,”

“Even during the flu season every cold months of the year, it is recommended to skip handshakes to prevent infecting others,”

Sen. Angara was among the three senators who was infected with the virus. With the other two being Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri and Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.

As per the report, they haven’t traced where they acquired the disease but they admitted that they shook hands with several people who visited the Senate before they showed symptoms of the dreaded disease.

He, along with Zubiri, recovered from COVID-19. Pimentel, on the other hand, is yet to wait his test results to see if he had already recovered.
