Jelai Andres Opens Up About Her Costly Five-Year Annulment Journey
JELAI ANDRES – Freedom came with a hefty price tag for Jelai Andres, who spent around P1 million and waited five years before her marriage was officially annulled.
Content creator and actress Jelai Andres has opened up about the emotional journey that led her to finally forgive both herself and her former husband, Jon Gutierrez, after years of pain brought by their failed marriage and lengthy annulment process.
During her guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Jelai candidly spoke about the difficult chapter of her life, revealing that true forgiveness did not come easily. She admitted that although she had previously claimed in interviews that she had already forgiven Jon, she later realized she had not completely let go of the hurt.
“Yes, Tito Boy. Nagpatawad ako kasi kailangan,” Jelai said.
She explained that before forgiving her ex-husband, she first had to forgive herself. According to the content creator, attending Christian and Catholic seminars played a significant role in her healing process and helped her find peace.
“So, kailangan patawarin ko sarili ko. Nag-repent ako. Uma-attend ako ng mga seminar pang Christians and Catholics.
“Du’n ko ni-repent na patawarin Mo ako Lord kasi ginanto ko ‘yung sarili ko,” Jelai further shared.
The actress shared that she eventually realized she had truly moved on when the anger and pain simply disappeared.
“Doon ko naramdaman na nakapagpatawad na kasi hindi na ‘ko galit, Tito Boy, nawala na lang siya bigla.
“Nawala na ‘yung galit, ‘yung pain. Tanggap ko na. Na-accept ko na na ito ‘yung nangyari. Okay na. Buti na lang naghiwalay kami,” she said.
Jelai also admitted that she was never genuinely happy during her marriage. Now that their annulment has been granted, she feels she has been given a fresh start.
“Parang second life ko na po ‘to, Tito Boy. Kasi napagdaanan ko na po ‘yung depression, ‘yung anxiety,” Jelai’s emotional statement.
She expressed hope that no other woman would have to endure the same experience.
“Kasi sobrang hirap, baka hindi niya kayanin, Tito Boy.”
“Alam mo ‘yung parang buhay ka pero namatay ka na ulit. Ganu’n po kahirap. Yung pure na pure ka, tapos parang lahat ng bumabalik, hindi mo deserve,” she added.
Jelai also disclosed that the annulment process lasted five years and cost her approximately P1 million. Despite the lengthy legal battle, she and Jon remained civil throughout the proceedings.
“Hindi kami magkaaway kasi hindi kami nag-aaway. Hindi rin kami bati, Tito Boy. Hindi na ‘ko galit.”
In one of her vlogs, Jelai also reflected on the court’s decision to nullify their marriage, saying it was something she had continuously prayed for after enduring what she described as repeated infidelity and betrayal during their relationship.
“Masaya ako kasi, finally, nawala na sa mundo ‘yung kasal. Yung annulment, kasama sa prayers ko,” said Jelai.
