Sara Duterte Asks Senate to Cover Meals for Her Defense Team
SARA DUTERTE – A newly published document has revealed that Vice President Sara Duterte requested the Senate to pay for the catering services of her defense team, support staff, and witnesses.
Vice President Sara Duterte has reportedly requested that the Senate cover the catering expenses for her defense team during her ongoing impeachment trial, according to a document made public by Super Radyo DZBB 594khz on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
The document contains a letter allegedly sent by Vice President Sara to the office of Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian on July 7, 2026. The letter outlines three specific requests concerning the food and beverage arrangements for her defense team throughout the proceedings.
One of the requests focuses on where meals and refreshments should be served to members of the defense panel, support staff, and witnesses involved in the impeachment trial.
“All food and beverage intended for the members of the defense team, support staff, and witnesses shall be served exclusively in their designated holding room,” the first request stated.
The published document also emphasized that Vice President Sara requested that only the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) accredited catering service be allowed to prepare and provide meals for her defense team. According to the letter, this arrangement is intended to address security concerns related to the handling of food and beverages during the proceedings.
“To address legitimate security concerns and to provide the necessary level of assurance to all concerned personnel and witnesses, all food and beverage shall be sourced, prepared, and served exclusively by the OVP’s accredited caterer,” VP Sara wrote in the letter.
In the third portion of the document, the Vice President also requested that the Senate shoulder the reasonable expenses associated with the catering services for her legal team, support staff, and witnesses participating in the impeachment trial.
“The OVP respectfully requests that the Senate shoulder the reasonable costs of food and beverage and catering services for the defense team, support staff, and witnesses,” the document stated.
The reported request has drawn public attention as discussions surrounding the impeachment trial continue. However, the document only reflects the requests submitted by the Office of the Vice President and does not indicate whether they have been approved.
As of the writing of this article, neither the Senate nor the office of Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian has released an official statement regarding the request. Likewise, no additional response has been issued by Vice President Sara Duterte’s camp concerning the matter or any developments related to the Senate’s decision on the requested catering expenses.
