Sen. Bong Go Says DOH Needs To Be More Decisive, Responsive In COVID-19 Fight

BONG GO – Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go said the Department of Health has to be more decisive and responsive in the coronavirus fight.

The Department of Health (DOH) is currently led by Dr. Francisco Duque. Is has been the forefront of the government’s effort to combat the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a previous article, several senators filed a petition seeking his immediate resignation. Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Panfilo Lacson, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Lito Lapid, Bong Revilla Jr., Sonny Angara, Ronald Dela Rosa, Nancy Binay, Sherwin Gatchalian, Grace Poe, Manny Pacquiao, Joel Villanueva, Imee Marcos, and Francis Tolentino. are the senators who signed the resolution.

Senator Grace Poe said Francisco Duque III failed the minimum standard of leadership. She said the Health agency failed to reach the COVID-19 testing target and gagging of a healthcare worker who’s asking for support.

Meanwhile, Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said the coronavirus situation in the Philippines count not have been worse of the DOH immediately traced the co-passengers of the couple from Wuhan City, China.

Based on a report from Philippine News Agency, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go said the Department of Health should be more decisive and responsive. He gave a statement following the apology and admission of the Health chief.

“Secretary Duque and the entire DOH have to be more decisive and more responsive to the needs of our people. We need them to step up and work better for our country to overcome this crisis as soon as possible,” said Go.

According to the report, Sen. Bong Go said the health department will surely fail if they can’t get cooperation and support from everyone. He encourages the public to help beat the “invisible enemy.”

“Tulungan rin natin sila (DOH) at magbayanihan tayo para mas mabilis nating malampasan ang pagsubok na ito (Let us also help the DOH and cooperate with each other for us to swiftly overcome this adversity)…”

“The whole government and even the private sector are taking part in this fight in order for us to heal as one. This is a fight for all and of all Filipinos. That’s why we need to help and cooperate with each other,” he added.

The coronavirus cases in the county is nearing 6000. The death toll has reached 387 and 487 recoveries.
