Philippine Senators Call for Resignation of DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III

SENATORS – Several lawmakers in the Philippines filed a resolution calling Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III to resign.

The Philippines is now on a crisis – the coronavirus or COVID-19. According to the Department of Health (DOH), there is now a total of 5,453 cases of coronavirus confirmed in the country.

With regards to the death toll, 349 coronavirus patients died of the disease. At least twelve (12) of them are doctors and most contracted the disease while being on the front line of the fight.

Currently, the entire Luzon is under an enhanced community quarantine. Parts of Visayas and Mindanao are also under an ECQ to curb the spread of the disease.

Recently, an update related to coronavirus crisis in the Philippines crossed the surface. Based on a post on ANC 24/7‘s Facebook page, several senators are calling for the resignation of DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III for his alleged “failure of leadership, negligence, lack of foresight, and inefficiency in the performance of his mandate”.

The said resolution was introduced by Senate President Sotto III and senators Recto, Angara, Zubiri, Binay, Poe, Pacquiao, Gatchalian, Tolentino, Villanueva, Dela Rosa, Marcos, Revilla, Lapid, and Lacson.
