DFA Said 322 Pinoy Seamen Arrived in PH From Italy

DFA – The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that 322 Filipino seafarers from Italy arrived in the Philippines.

The world now is fighting against the spread of a pandemic that took thousands of lives already, the 2019 coronavirus or COVID-19. It was first recorded in China in the late December 2019.

Globally, nearly 1.3 million cases of coronavirus were recorded. The global death toll approaches 70,000.

One of the countries affected by the pandemic is the Philippines. There is now a total of 3,246 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country.

Amid the fight against the 2019 novel coronavirus’ spread, several Filipinos working oversease were sent home. These people include seafarers of cruise ships that stopped operations due to the pandemic.

Recently, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that 322 Filipino seafarers from Italy in the Philippines. They are from two (2) different cruise ships.

According to the agency, 114 seamen came from Costa Diadema cruise ship while 208 came from Costa Victoria. Nearly 5,000 seafarers will be repatriated. More of them may arrive this week.
