Vico Sotto: What Can He Say About His “Violation” Of Bayanihan Law?

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on summon against him after he “violated” the Bayanihan Law.

VICO SOTTO – Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has this reaction over summon against him after he “possibly violated” the Bayanihan Law.

Fearless, compassionate, and a quick thinker. These are just some of the commendable qualities of young Mayor Vico Sotto. And when he plead to the government to allow tricycle drivers in Pasig City to operate despite suspension of public transportation amid the lockdown, he instead got summoned by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) as per previous report.

Accordingly, he violated the Republic Act 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act Section 6 (a) for disobeying national government policies or directives in imposing quarantines. NBI Deputy Director Ferdinand Lavin said that this was done after President Duterte ordered them to investigate local government officials.

And on Twitter, the young politician expressed his opinion about the summon against him saying that it was never illegal to air your opinion. And for all he knows, the act was passed on March 24 which was days before he plead to the government. And when he was not granted of what he wanted, he immediately complied with the directives regarding enhanced community quarantine.

He also added, “Ang nakapagtataka.. bago pa namin matanggap yung sulat, may media nang nagtatanong sa amin tungkol dito… Anyway, back to work.”

Several people and famous personalities have reacted to this violently and in disbelief for someone who does his job excellently was summoned for no apparent legal reason while those who clearly violated a protocol was let go because of compassion.
