President Duterte Directs OCD To Inventory All Donation In COVID-19 Fight
DUTERTE – Amid the spread of COVID-19 in the Philippines, Presidente Rodrigo Duterte wanted all donations for COVID-19 efforts to be managed by the government.
These include cash donations and, medical supplies, and other forms of donations. The move was made through Administrative Order no. 27 which stated that all donations to the government would be transmitted to the Office Of Civil Defence (OCD).
The order covers donations coming from foreign governments, private entities, non-government organizations (NGO), or any individual or group.
The OCD is hereby directed to prepare an inventory of all the donations to the National Government and to DOH
According to a report from Inquirer, the distribution of said donations would also be managed by the OCD in coordination with the DOH, DSWD, DOLE, and the Inter-Agency Task Force.
Under the Administrative Order, the Department of National Defence (DND) would provide the OCD with logistics. This includes the distribution and delivery of donations.
Meanwhile, Chief Implementer of the national policy against COVID-19 and President Rodrigo Duterte’s adviser on Peace Carlito Galvez Jr was tasked to oversee and manage the distributions.
Following this, the OCD would be required to submit a weekly report to the President regarding the actions taken. This would be done through the Executive Secretary
In the fight against COVID-19, the President had imposed several countermeasures to prevent the spread of the virus. Of these was placing Luzon under an Enhanced Community Quarantine.
The President also said he would give households cash aid amid the quarantine. Workers would also be given cash aid by the Department of Labor and Employment.
