Poor OFWs in Malaysia Ask PH Government to Allow Philippine Embassy to Send Them Food Supplies
PH GOVERNMENT – The poor Overseas Filipino Workers in Malaysia are now asking the Philippine government to send them food.
On Friday (March 27, 2020), it has been reported that the Filipino migrant workers are seeking help from Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar to send them food supplies.
The OFWs claims that foreigners were not on the priority list of Malaysia when it comes to food after their government extended the strict lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019.
According to an anonymous OFW, foreign nationals find it more difficult to buy food in Malaysia because they were always placed last in long lines. Most food shelves are almost empty when their turn comes at supermarkets and grocery stores.
The Filipino workers are now asking the help of the government to let the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia send them food supplies. Meanwhile, Malaysia would impose strict lockdown until April 14, 2020.
Aside from Malaysia, a lot of countries including the Philippines are already taking necessary actions to fight the new coronavirus disease. The enhanced community quarantine in Luzon is set to expire on April 14, 2020.
