House Rep Eric Yap Tests Positive for Coronavirus Disease, He Apologized To Those He Might Have Passed the Virus

The House Representative Eric Yap has tested positive for coronavirus and admitted he went to Malacañang Palace last weekend.

On Wednesday evening (March 26, 2020), ACT-CIS Rep. Eric Yap admitted that he had contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Yap is the second congressman to test positive with the new coronavirus.

Yap has been tested for COVID-19 last March 15 and the result was released 10 days after the examination.  He also experienced a slight cough, which is a symptom of the deadly virus that killed thousands of people.

The Congressman apologized to other politicians he might have passed the virus after attending a special session of Congress in Malacañang Palace last weekend. He also revealed that he had close contacts with other staff members and fellow congressmen.

“I ask for the forgiveness and understanding from the people I interacted with. I was paranoid because I was feeling a slight cough, but I felt it was normal for me,” Yap said.

The politician attended a meeting regarding funding the measures for coronavirus outbreak in the country together Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.

He is also one of the lawmakers who attended the discussion of the bill granting special powers to President RodrigoDuterte to address the health crisis in the country. However, the President did not attend the discussion.
