Following COVID-19 Lockdown, SM Assures To Compensate Employees
SM ASSURES TO COMPENSATE EMPLOYEES – The Philippines has seen an increasing trend in COVID-19 cases.
As such, President Rodrigo Duterte imposed an enhanced community quarantine in Luzon. This has caused several businesses and livelihoods to be affected.
Some of these include workers of big companies such as SM. Luckily, SM stood in solidarity with the country in its war against the new coronavirus.

Today, SM assured all of its employees that their regular compensation in addition to an Emergency Financial Assitance to its front liners (security guards, and janitorial staff).
According to an article from Manila Bulletin, All Employees will receive their regularly scheduled salaries during the enhanced community quarantine.
Moreover, deductions would not b-e made to an employee’s vacation and sick leaves. In addition, the company’s front liners would receive an additional P5,000 premium pay.
Public transportation had also been hit by the lockdown as social distancing practices are being upheld. To address this issue, the Makati City government has imposed an ordered the release of P2k initial financial assistance for the city’s 5,946 tricycle drivers.
Meanwhile, The Department of Labor and Employment stated that absences amid the COVID-19 lockdown would not reflect performance evaluations.
