One of the people infected by coronavirus in Canada is the wife of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Sophie Trudeau. Recently, speaking to the press outside their home, the Prime Minister announced the closure of the borders of the country to foreigners except U.S. citizens.

According to the report, only U.S. citizens and “Canadian citizens or permanent residents” may enter the borders of the country amid the fight against the spread of coronavirus. Trudeau also emphasized limiting social contact to prevent the spread of the disease.

“Staying home is an important step to protect the community and each other. We all have to do it,” the Prime Minister said based on the report.

With regards to the exemption of the closure of the borders for U.S. citizens, entry will be permitted as the countries got different trade ties. The trade between the two countries, in which Canada exports 75% of its goods to U.S. will continue.
