Toboso Mayor Confirms Negros Occidental Councilor Shows Flu-Like Symptoms Following Visit to Manila

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL COUNCILOR – Toboso Mayor Richard Jaojoco confirmed that a councilor who came to Manila showed flu-like symptoms.

The Philippines is now trying its best to contain the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus. In a televised national address, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has announced the putting of Metro Manila under “community quarantine” as one of the measures.

Currently, there is a total of 52 confirmed coronavirus cases in the Philippines. The death toll in the country is at five (5) based on the announcements of the Department of Health (DOH).

Both the national government and the local government are strictly monitoring the cases of COVID-19 nationwide and in the respective cities. Several mayors have taken the initiative to announce possible and confirmed cases of coronavirus in their locality.

Most patients of coronavirus are confined in hospitals in Metro Manila. This prompted to put the whole place under a quarantine. All land, sea, and air travels to and from the Metro starting March 15 are suspended.

With regards to provinces outside the Metro and other regions, a mayor in one of the towns in the province of Negros Oriental recently gave an update about a possible case.

Based on a report on Manila Bulletin, Toboso Mayor Richard Jaojoco revealed that a Negros Occidental councilor showed flu-like symptoms after a visit in Manila. The said councilor came to the capital city for the PCL National Congress.

According to the report, the said councilor was already brought to the hospital. There are no further information yet about the patient’s condition as of this writing.
