Vice Ganda Says No To Selfies Amid COVID-19 Outbreak
VICE GANDA – Kapamilya comedian Vice Ganda revealed that he will not take selfies with fans due to the novel coronavirus threat.
Due to the threat of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), some events and classes were suspended. Television networks GMA-7 and ABS-CBN announced that some of their shows that are normally aired live will temporarily ban live audience.
These measures are undertaken to prevent the spread of the deadly virus from China. Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has declared a state of public health emergency on Monday. The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic.
In a previous article, It’s Showtime host Vhong Navarro reacted following the banning of the live studio audience in their network. “Kapag pagod kasi kami, sa kanila kami kumukuha ng lakas dahil sa mga ngiti at saya nila. Ngayon, mas doble ang effort namin para mapaabot ang saya sa televiewers.” he said.
The comedian’s co-host, Phenomenal star Vice Ganda took to Twitter to apologize to his fans after he declined taking selfies with them. He also asked for social distancing during the coronavirus outbreak.
“Pasensya na po talaga sa mga di ko napagbibigyan ng selfie. Sana po talaga ay maunawaan ng lhat ang Social Distancing para sa ngayon,” he wrote.
In a follow-up Tweet, Vice Ganda penned the meaning of “social distancing” for his 13.2 million Twitter followers. He said it is a way to prevent the spread of the viral disease.
The country now has 49 confirmed cases of COVID-19 including 2 deaths. In a previous article, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that a Filipino coronavirus patient died in Manila.
