Here’s List of Government Officials Under Quarantine for Coronavirus

CORONAVIRUS – Here is the list of government officials who went on self-quarantine for coronavirus risks.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has placed the Philippines under a state of public health emergency after a week of growing concern due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) threat in the country. PNP Chief General Archie Francisco Gamboa said they are ready to deploy 40,000 cops if the government order to lock down Metro Manila.

On March 11, the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) a pandemic. There are now 118,000 cases of the deadly virus in over 110 countries around the world.

On Wednesday night, Senators Nancy Binay and Sherwin Gatchalian said they would go 2 weeks quarantine after a resource person who attended a Senate hearing tested positive for the coronavirus.

Based on a report from Inquirer, lawmakers, several cabinet members and local executives that they would also place themselves under self-quarantine after they got exposed to the infected person.

Here is the list of the government officials who have announced undergoing a 14-day quarantine:

  • Senator Nancy Binay

Cabinet officials

  • Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Carlos Dominguez III
  • Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade
  • Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar
  • Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Wendel Avisado
  • Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones

Local executives

  • Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso
  • Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio
  • Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco

The Philippines now has 49 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, including 2 deaths. On Wednesday, the Department of Health confirmed that a Pinoy COVID-19 patient died in Manila.
