Joey de Leon Reacts After Eat Bulaga Suspends Admission of Live Audience
EAT BULAGA – Veteran host Joey de Leon reacted after learning about the temporary banning of the live studio audience on Eat Bulaga.
The management of the longest-running noontime show in the Philippines, Eat Bulaga, decided that they will temporarily stop accepting live studio audience amid the novel coronavirus scare in the country. They said it is a preventive measure to halt the spread of the deadly virus.
On their statement, the program assured their fans that they will continue to bring entertainment to Pinoys every day. “Araw-araw pa rin po kaming maghahatid ng isang libo’t isang tuwa sa inyong mga tahanan. Ingat po tayong lahat, Dabarkads!” it said.
Eat Bulaga’s preventive measure came in the wake of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s declaring a state of public health emergency amid the rise of coronavirus cases in the country.
Based on a report from PEP, Eat Bulaga host Joey de Leon reacted following the suspension of the live audience admission. He told the Philippine Star columnist Ricky Lo that he and his fellow hosts only learn about the temporary ban when they arrive at the studio.
“We were just told about it when we got to the studio yesterday morning,” he said.
According to the report, Joey de Leon said they just saw a sign at the entrance of the studio saying they won’t be accepting a live audience. He said he’s not sure how long will the suspension last.
“A sign was placed at the entrance that we won’t be accepting ‘live’ audience for the meantime, nut we don’t know how long it will last…”
“No more beso-beso, no more kissing, no more shaking hands, just a simple ‘hi’ or ‘hello’ from a distance,” he added.
The deadly virus from Wuhan, China has caused the death of 4000 people mostly from mainland China and infected more than 113,000 people globally.
