Social Media Giant Facebook to Ban Misleading Advertisements About Coronavirus

Facebook Inc announced that they would ban advertisements for the products offering cures for coronavirus disease 2019.

Coronavirus disease 2019 or popularly known as novel coronavirus (nCoV) has become the headlines of both local and international news agencies over the past few weeks. The virus is also among the most discussed topics online.

The disease is currently spreading in different countries all around the world and has already affected thousands of people worldwide. The deadly virus also killed numerous people in various parts of the world.

COVID-19 is believed to have originated in Wuhan City, China but continues to spread worldwide. Many countries are already implementing precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

Recently, the social media giant Facebook announced that they would ban misleading advertisements about coronavirus. Some advertisements allegedly spread extreme ideologies and unverified news.

A company spokesperson said that advertisements claiming wearing face masks could prevent the spread of the disease 100 percent will be prohibited.
