Thief Steals Scrap Materials, Then Sells Them Back to Same Junk Shop

Fearless Thief Steals Scrap Materials and Sells Them Back to Same Junk Shop in Negros Occidental

A thief who stole from a junk shop sold the stolen scrap materials back to the same shop he had robbed in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

On August 5, 2026 (Wednesday), a thief left many residents surprised after allegedly stealing scrap materials from a junk shop and then returning to sell the stolen items back to the same business. The incident took place in Barangay Washington, Escalante City.

According to the junk shop owner, an unidentified man entered the property and took scrap materials without permission. Instead of bringing the stolen items elsewhere, the suspect later returned and attempted to sell the same scraps to the shop he had allegedly stolen them from.

Workers at the junk shop reportedly recognized the materials and realized they were the same items that had gone missing earlier. However, they were unable to immediately stop the suspect because he was allegedly carrying a large bladed weapon.

The employees decided not to confront him directly. They instead proceeded with the transaction to avoid any possible violence. The presence of the weapon left workers worried that someone could get hurt if they resisted.

The owner expressed frustration over the suspect’s actions and appealed to the public for help in identifying him. A reward was also offered to anyone who could provide information that could lead to the suspect’s whereabouts.

The owner claimed that the man even changed his shorts before returning to the junk shop, possibly in an effort to avoid being recognized. Despite the change in clothing, workers were still able to notice similarities that made them believe he was the same person who had earlier entered the property.

Authorities have not yet released information on whether the suspect has been identified or arrested. The junk shop owner is hoping that members of the community who may recognize the man will come forward and help with the investigation.
