Farmer Dies After Being Stabbed During Heated Argument at Birthday Party

A farmer was stabbed to death following a misunderstanding with another guest at a birthday party in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.  

The victim was identified only as Renie, 51 years old, a farmer and resident of the area. The suspect, identified as Leo, was also a farmer and lived in the same community. 

According to the investigation conducted by the Himamaylan City Police Station, both men were attending a birthday party in Sitio Cabagal, Barangay Buenavista when the incident happened.

Witnesses said the gathering was peaceful until a brief exchange between the two men led to violence. 

Reports showed that Renie noticed Leo was not wearing a shirt while attending the celebration. Because there were many guests present, he reportedly advised Leo to put on a shirt. 

Police said Leo became angry after being confronted. The situation quickly escalated, and he allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Renie in the left side of the chest. Guests at the party were shocked by the sudden attack. Efforts were immediately made to help the victim, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Despite the quick response, doctors declared Renie dead on arrival due to the severity of his injury. 

After the stabbing, the suspect fled the scene before authorities arrived. Police immediately launched a search operation, but as of the latest report, Leo remains at large. 

Police Lieutenant Peter Genovia, Deputy Chief of Police of the Himamaylan Police Station, said investigators are currently preparing the necessary documents for the filing of a homicide case against the suspect. 

Authorities continue to track Leo and are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to cooperate with law enforcement.
